Cola Marinated Eggs
Cola marinated eggs originate from China and are a traditional household dish. They combine the sweetness of Cola with the saltiness of soy sauce, enhanced by aromatic spices, creating a uniquely rich and flavorful experience. Often served as a snack, bento dish, or appetizer, these eggs are beloved across all age groups for their simplicity, affordability, and delicious taste.

INGREDIENTS
- 8 eggs
DIRECTIONS
Fill a pot halfway with water and add 8 eggs, cover the pot with a lid and bring the water to a boil over high heat, boil for 10 minutes.
Transfer the boiled eggs to a bowl of cold water and let them cool for a few minutes, peel the eggs and set them aside.
Tip:
Placing the eggs in cold water immediately after boiling makes them easier to peel and helps maintain a firm texture.
When boiling eggs, cut 2 green onions into long segments, slice 1 small piece of ginger, set aside.
In a pot, pour in 1 can of Cola, add the green onion segments, ginger slices, 5 star anise, 5 bay leaves, and 2 pieces of rock sugar.
Add 1 teaspoon salt, 1 tablespoon light soy sauce, and 1 tablespoon dark soy sauce, bring the mixture to a boil over high heat.
Pour the marinade into a bowl containing the peeled eggs, making sure they are fully submerged.
Tip:
Ensure the marinade is enough to cover all the eggs. If not, you can add more Cola and soy sauce, adjusting the spices accordingly.
Let the eggs soak in the marinade for at least 2 hours to absorb the flavors, preferably overnight for the best taste.
Tip:
To enhance the flavor of the eggs, it is recommended to seal the container and refrigerate for at least 2 hours. The longer the eggs marinate, the better they will taste.
