Easy Hainanese Chicken Rice Recipes
The origin of Hainanese Chicken Rice can be traced back to the early immigrant period on Hainan Island. At that time, people created this dish to adapt to the hot climate and challenging living conditions. It not only replenishes energy but is also easy to preserve. In Hainanese culture, it holds significance beyond just food—it embodies emotional connections. During festivals or family gatherings, Hainanese Chicken Rice always takes the spotlight on the dining table.

INGREDIENTS
- Five chicken wings (small size)
- 200g fragrant rice
DIRECTIONS
Prepare five small chicken wings, thaw them in advance to ensure they are neither dry nor fishy.
Prepare 10g cooking wine, 10g light soy sauce, 10g ginger slices, and 10g green onion segments.
Prepare the chicken wings, green onion segments, ginger, cooking wine, and light soy sauce. Put them into a pot with water, bring to a boil to remove any foam, skim off the foam, then simmer over low heat for 15 minutes.
Tip:
Ginger slices help to eliminate any fishy smell from the chicken and add fragrance to the dish.
10g shallots, 5g ginger, 10g garlic, finely minced for best results.
Rinse 200g of fragrant rice thoroughly and set aside for later use.
Pour 20g of vegetable oil into the pot and heat over medium-low heat. Add minced shallots, ginger, and garlic. Stir-fry until fragrant and slightly colored. Then, add the prepared fragrant rice and stir-fry in the pot for about 3 minutes.
Pour the cooked chicken broth into the stir-fried fragrant rice. Use the same amount of chicken broth as you would typically use for cooking rice.
Transfer everything into the rice cooker and let it cook.
Prepare a sufficient amount of chopped scallions (10g), minced ginger (10g), and mix with 10g sesame oil, 5g sugar, 5g salt, and 5g chicken bouillon.
Pour in 50g of hot oil that has been heated, stir well, and the soul sauce is ready.
Tip:
If you have enough time, you can make the sauce yourself with the ingredients, or you can buy it directly from an Asian supermarket or online, which is more convenient. For those who like variety, you can also add vegetables according to personal taste preferences.
Arrange the dish on a plate, drizzle with the sauce, sprinkle with 3g of black sesame seeds, and you're ready to enjoy your meal!
