Pancakes Recipe
Traditional pancakes have always been popular, known for their soft, fluffy texture and rich, sweet, buttery flavor. They're a hit with both the elderly and kids, making them a favorite worldwide. Today, I’ll be sharing my family’s classic pancake recipe.
Many people think making pancakes is difficult, but creating the perfect pancake is actually much easier than you might imagine. With just a few common kitchen ingredients, this recipe will give you thick, fluffy, and incredibly delicious pancakes that are far better than any store-bought mix.
1. About Pancakes
Pancakes are thin, round griddle cakes typically made from a mixture of flour, eggs, milk, and melted butter or oil. To make pancakes, you pour the batter onto a hot pan and cook until the bottom is golden brown, then flip and cook the other side until done. Pancakes can be topped with a variety of ingredients and sauces, such as honey, jam, chocolate sauce, or fruit, and are commonly enjoyed as a breakfast or dessert.
2. Simple Pancake Ingredients
To make these pancakes, you'll need the following ingredients:
63g All-Purpose Flour: This quick pancake recipe calls for 1/2 cup of all-purpose flour.
Granulated Sugar: You'll need 1/2 tablespoon of sugar.
Baking Powder: This acts as a leavening agent to ensure the pancakes are perfectly fluffy.
Salt: Enhances the overall flavor without making the pancakes taste too salty.
Milk and Butter: These add moisture and richness to the pancake batter.
Egg: A beaten egg adds additional moisture and helps bind the batter together.
3. Making Homemade Pancakes Isn't Hard
Making homemade pancakes is easy when you follow a good recipe. Here’s a brief overview, with the full recipe below:
Sift the dry ingredients into a bowl.
Create a well in the center and add the wet ingredients, stirring until just combined.
Scoop the batter onto a preheated griddle or skillet.
Cook for two to three minutes, then flip.
Continue cooking until both sides are golden brown.
4. When to Flip Pancakes?
Many people struggle with this step, so here’s how to know when it’s time to flip. Wait until the top of the pancake starts to form bubbles and the edges look dry and set. This usually takes about two to three minutes per side. Once you see these signs, it’s time to flip!
5. How to Store and Reheat Pancakes
Freezing Cooked Pancakes: Allow the pancakes to cool completely, then arrange them in a single layer on a baking sheet (make sure the edges aren’t touching). Freeze for a few hours or up to overnight. Reheat in the oven at 350°F until fully warmed through. Store leftover pancakes in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week.

INGREDIENTS
MAIN INGREDIENTS
- 63g All-Purpose Flour (or regular flour)
ACCESSORIES
- 1/2 teaspoon Baking Powder
- 1/4 teaspoon Baking Soda
- 1 Egg
- 75ml Milk
- 10g Butter
SEASONINGS
- 1/2 tablespoon Granulated Sugar
- 2g Salt
DIRECTIONS
STEP 1
Prepare All Ingredients:
Gather all your ingredients. Heat some water in a pan, then turn off the heat once it boils. Melt the 10g of butter using the double boiler method and set aside.
Tip:
Melting butter using the double boiler method takes some time, so it's a good idea to do this step in advance.
STEP 2
Measure 63g of flour, 1/2 teaspoon baking powder, and 1/4 teaspoon baking soda into a bowl, then whisk together and sift.
Tip:
Sifting the flour helps make it finer, resulting in softer pancakes with a better texture.
STEP 3
After mixing the flour, add 1 egg and 1/3 of the milk to the bowl, and mix until combined. Add another 1/3 of the milk and mix again. Finally, add the remaining milk and the melted butter. The batter should be smooth, flowing, and not too thick.
STEP 4
Heat a skillet over low heat and lightly brush it with a small amount of oil using a paper towel to prevent sticking.
STEP 5
Pour in a portion of batter, about the size of a coffee mug.
STEP 6
Cook over low heat until bubbles form on the surface of the batter, then flip.
STEP 7
Cook the other side using the same method.
STEP 8
Follow the same steps to cook all the pancakes.
Tip:
To prevent the pancakes from getting too dark, clean the skillet with a paper towel after cooking each pancake. This helps keep the color of the pancakes clean and even.
STEP 9
Serve the cooked pancakes with some blueberries and a dusting of powdered sugar.
